Q. Is Tuff Girl Fitness group performance training for everyone?
A. Although our classes contain women of all ages (15-65), shapes (sizes 0-20), and fitness levels (beginners to tri-athletes) Tuff Girl Fitness is not for everyone.
Because of the intense nature of the training we do, it is not recommended that women with extreme limitations of movement and multiple exercise contraindications train with us.
If your doctor recommends you keep your heart rate low, or if basic movements such as the squat, lunge, plank and shoulder press are off limits, then Tuff Girl Fitness is not the place for you to train.
If you don’t want to work hard, if you don’t like to sweat, and if you will refuse to lift weights that weigh more than your handbag, Tuff Girl Fitness is not for you.
If you are unsure whether your limitations would prohibit your success in our program, please contact Christa (christa@SweatRinseRepeat.com).
Q. What can I expect during a typical training session?
A. All of our classes are interval style. Instead of counting reps or working at a moderate level for long periods of time, we work at high intensity in intervals ranging from ten seconds to one minute, take a break, then do it all over again.
You will get a variety of classes each week. Some workouts are all bodyweight, some are circuit style using the TRX, and many incorporate weights, battle ropes, jump ropes, and weighted objects like balls and sandbags. You’ll also use resistance bands and gliding discs, and even get to work off a bad day with some kickboxing in the mix!
Q. How long are the classes?
A. Classes are 50-60 minutes depending on the workout.
Q. How many women are in a class?
A. There is a 30-person limit to every class. That is why class registration is required for every class and we do not allow drop ins.
Q. Do you offer any discounts?
A. No. Price is only an issue in the absence of value.
Monthly Plans:
$109/8 Sessions per month ($13.60/session)
$149/12 Sessions per month ($12.40/session)
$199/Unlimited Sessions per month ($8.30/session)
Requires auto pay.
Unused classes do not roll over.
Q. I’ve heard that lifting heavy weights will bulk me up and make me look too masculine. Is it true?
A. This is one of the annoying myths in the fitness industry that is perpetuated by obnoxious celebrity trainers and glossy magazines.
Lifting heavy weights will do many things, none of which include making you look “manly.” Because women have very low testosterone, it is impossible to get big, bulky muscles without taking some illegal substances, or dedicating day and night to lifting weights.
When you train with us, you will build muscles you may not have realized you had, tone your body from head to toe, reduce your risk for injury, build bone mass, gain strength, flexibility and coordination, improve your posture, gain confidence and self esteem, and realize how strong and powerful you truly are.
Q. What is your schedule?
A. Please (Click here) to visit our online scheduling site to view our most current schedule.
Q. Where do classes take place?
A. Classes take place at Bodyology, the 2600 square foot privately owned facility run by fitness trainers Christa & Mike Doran. We have two bathrooms and a changing room. There are no shower facilities at Bodyology.
We can be found behind the Bed Bath and Beyond/CVS plaza off Dixwell Ave at 60 Connolly Parkway, #6A, Hamden, CT. (Click here for map & directions)
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. Bodyology provides all the necessary equipment. Please bring plenty of water, a towel if you want, and proper training footwear. Toning shoes of any kind are strongly discouraged.
